moto3 / 2017 begins in Valencia for the Leopard Racing team
The riders Joan Mir and Livio Loi were out on track for the first private test of the 2017 season at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, where they got acquainted with the Honda NSF250R.
The Leopard Racing team starts at the same circuit where last November they ended the 2016 season ,celebrating the second step of the podium Joan Mir, a result that allowed the Spaniard to win the Rookie of the Year.
The 4 Km track named after Ricardo Tormo opened the 2017 season for many Moto2 and Moto3 teams. For Leopard Racing it was a significant event, changing to Honda machinery for the World Championship Moto3, the brand with which we won the world title in 2015 with. On the other hand, it also marked the arrival of Livio Loi to the team.
For the first time together, the two new teammates put their wheels on the track for the first two days of private testing, gathering a multitude of data and information, transmitted to the driven technicians under the careful supervision of Christian Lundberg. The goal is to become familiar with the NSF250R and define a good base set-up for the start of the season.
Positive lap times for both riders, who today (yesterday saw high winds slow track activities) completed 64 and 58 laps respectively. Testing continues on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd,at the Jerez Circuit.

“I’m very happy, it was a very positive test for us. I got acquainted with the new Honda. There is still work to do but I was immediately at ease; now we have to refine it and step up more. After these months, there is a great desire to continue working.”
#11 Livio LOI:
“These first two days have been really positive. With the new team there was immediately understanding and we did a good job. We tried so many things, outlining the way forward. We must continue to grow and look forward. Do not wait to get to Jerez for the next test.”
