cycling news / Chasing good results at Tour of South Bohemia
THE RONDE VAN MIDDEN-NEDERLAND ONLY FINISHED TWO DAYS AGO, BUT THE FOCUS OF LEOPARD PRO CYCLING IS ALREADY ON THE FIVE-DAY TOUR OF SOUTH BOHEMIA (UCI 2.2) IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC.
ROSTER: Jan Brockhoff, Alexander Krieger, John Mandrysch, Aksel Nõmmela, Szymon Rekita & Luc Wirtgen – DS: Markus Zingen
It’s already sure that the start of this year’s Tour of South Bohemia is not to be underestimated as the race starts with a 2,9 kilometer team time trial on normal road bikes. By being all out for a short period of time, the riders will not be able to enjoy the scenery of this opening day as it is based around the Jindřichův Hradec Castle, the third biggest castle in the Czech Republic. On the second day, the race heads from České Budějovice to Tábor, a well-known city in cycling, because of hosting international cyclocross races since 1996. After 135 kilometers of racing, the riders who are able to survive the last uphill sections before the finish line, will compete for the victory flowers.
On the third day, the peloton will find itself on a very nice 152 kilometer route from České Velenice to Nová where a bunch sprint is expected. Whoever wants to make a last impact in the GC will have to do this in the penultimate stage from Třeboň to Kaplice. Just before the finish, there is a nasty little kick that invites for dangerous attacks on the leader in the GC. The final day will also most likely end up in a bunch sprint as the race comes back to Jindřichův Hradec. All in all, a race that offers a lot of possibilites for Leopard Pro Cycling who have one of the strongest line-ups at the start with amongst others Aksel Nõmmela and Alexander Krieger.
