moto2 / Difficult Qualifying for Kent in Aragon

Leopard Racing’s resident Brit was unable to express himself in Official Qualifying at MotorLand and tomorrow will be forced to start from the back of the grid.

Miguel Oliveira has already returned to Portugal after breaking his right collarbone yesterday during FP1, the Leopard Racing Team running with only Danny Kent. The second day on the 5.1 Km of MotorLand decided the starting grid of the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragon.

However, it has been a difficult day for the British rider, already 27th FP3 in the morning. The decisive afternoon run saw him unable to climb much further despite improving his own reference lap by half a second.

With a large gap to the upper reaches of the standings, the 22 year old will have 20 minutes of warm-up to finalise the set up of his Kalex as he aims to do battle in what is set to be an uphill race. Can he return to the points once again?

Tomorrow at 09:10 Local Time (GMT +2), the riders will be back on track for 20 minutes of warm-up before the lights go out at 12:20 for the fourteenth race of the 2016 Moto2 World Championship.

“It was a really disappointing Qualifying session. The crash this morning was nothing big but it took me some time to get my confidence back. I’ve got a stomach bug and I’m not feeling 100% but that’s no excuse. The team did a great job and there were no issues with the bike, I’m just not feeling myself. I’m sorry for my team and hope tomorrow we can put it behind us and focus on the race. It won’t be easy but we won’t give up.”
