moto3 / Good feelings for the Leopard Racing duo in Misano

Mir and Loi started to figure it all out in the first day of free practice at the Marco Simoncelli circuit in Misano Adriatico, closing Friday’s combined time in sixth and eleventh position respectively.

The first day of free practice at the Misano World Circuit, the 13th round of the 2017 season, which is the host to the Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera. After the fierce storms last night, this morning a lukewarm sun (19 ° C air / 17 ° C ground) welcomed the protagonists of the Moto3 class. The session began with most of the field fitting wets for the damp track, the Leopard Racing Team progressively lowered their reference times towards the end of FP1. Joan Mir and Livio Loi have impressed since the beginning: the Belgian has been able to keep pace and steadily improving throughout Fp1, ending in ninth place. Palma de Mallorca’s talent, Joan Mir, closed the morning in third-place after having long been in the lead and recording the highest peak speed (207.2 km/h) in the category.

In the afternoon, with temperatures now much higher, the times dropped rapidly between the curbs of the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”. Livio Loi started FP2 in great spirits, charging in the first minutes of the session to join the Top 5, and hitting the highest top speed of the whole day (207.4 km/h). His team-mate Joan Mir also ran well, improving his reference time by 3.5 seconds between the first and second sessions, ending with the sixth fastest time, tight in the wake of his rivals – celebrating their home GP. Both have underlined the positive feelings on their respective Honda NSF250rw.

Tomorrow, Saturday, September 9th, the protagonists of the Moto3 class will be engaged in the third and last round of free practice, anticipating the official qualifying show.

#36 Joan MIR – 6th (1’43.276):
“The strategy in the last run did not work properly, but I’m happy about how the day went, making a big leap forward between FP1 and FP2. Here in Misano the Italian riders are very aggressive, pulling out something more. Even though in the end this is not ideal for the race right now, the feelings I have on the bike are very positive.”

#11 Livio LOI – 11th (1’43.637):

“I had a good feeling in both sessions. In FP1 the track was not really the best because of the weather conditions, while in the FP2 on the dry we were with the top five from the start. We tried some modification with the tyres, but unfortunately I was bottled in a group and could not find the perfect time. Let’s see what can be improved: we are ready for tomorrow!
