moto3 / Joan Mir on the Phillip Island front row

In Australia, the championship leader dominated FP3 in the morning and ran up the front in Qualifying, showing good pace; a big step forward and better feeling for Livio Loi.

The interest of everyone was already entirely transfixed on Qualifying. In still uncertain climatic conditions, the Leopard Racing Team entered the track to concentrate on giving their best. Joan Mir immediately came to the front, while Livio Loi showed great improvement and, above all, a greater feeling with his NSF250RW. At the end the rain arrived, halting Mir from challenging for pole further.

After the dominance in practice, Mallorca’s talent seems to have sent a signal to the competition. Tomorrow in the race Mir will leave the calculations and is focused on attacking …The protagonists of the Moto3 class will return tomorrow morning at 10:40 am for 20 minutes o3f Warm Up, anticipating the 2017 season’s sixteenth race, which will kick off at 13:00 local time.

#36 Joan MIR – 3rd (1’37.411):
“I would have liked to grab pole position here in Australia: at least to have 1 this season [laughs]! These qualifications were a key moment of the weekend: I’m happy for the first row and especially for my rhythm. Actually I’m having fun riding this circuit, this is important; tomorrow I will not look at the standings or points, I’ll try to win the race!”

#11 Livio LOI – 21st (1’38.386):
“We’ve come a long way, the feeling with the bike has improved a lot. I missed only the ideal crone in qualifying: just when I had to push with the new rubber, rain came. Tomorrow I’m confident, I can get to the Top 10!”
