LEOPARD PRO CYCLING PROUDLY ANNOUNCES THAT THREE OF ITS RIDERS WILL PARTICIPATE AT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN BERGEN, NORWAY. 


ROSTER: Aksel Nõmmela (Estonia), Pit Leyder & Tom Wirtgen (Luxembourg)

The Vuelta a Espana has finished and that means that the World Championships are around the corner. Bergen, Norway will host the event that consists of (team) time trials and road races amongst a variety of categories. For Leopard Pro Cycling, three riders will represent their country in Bergen. Pit Leyder and Tom Wirtgen will participate in the U23 ranks for Luxembourg. Pit will only start in the road race, whereas Tom will do both the road race and the time trial. In the Elite category, Estonian Aksel Nõmmela takes part in the road race where he hopes to be of good value for his teammates.

Aksel Nõmmela: “I am looking forward to be wearing the outfit of the national team once again after my seventh place at the European Championships back in August. It will be a tough day, so I am hoping for good legs so I can help the team, also in the second part of the race. 

Tom Wirtgen: “I am really happy to be present in Norway, where I will do both the road race and the time trial. I’ve had some really good training the last week and I boosted my self-confidence with my victory in the time trial of the Tour de Moselle last week. We will see how the results will be, but of course I will give everything I have.

Pit Leyder: “At the moment my condition is very good. Therefore I am happy to be part of the team for the World Championships. In think the course in Bergen suits me really well, so I want to go all in and get the best result possible for the team!

  • Friday 22.09 | U23 Road Race | Pit Leyder & Tom Wirtgen (Luxembourg)
  • Sundag 24.09 | Elite Road Race | Aksel Nõmmela (Estonia)
