moto3 / Leopard Racing head into the den of Mir
After the great podium of Misano, Joan Mir rookie arrives at his favourite track. Andrea Locatelli and Fabio Quartararo are determined to assault MotorLand as well.
The Moto3 World Championship returns for the third time this season to Spanish soil, this time for the Grand Prix Movistar de Aragon. The 5 km of MotorLand, completed in 2010 by German architect Hermann Tilke, will host the three Leopard Racing riders. All are ready to challenge opponents in the latter part of the 2016 season and eager to use knowledge gained from a test earlier in the season there.
All eyes are on Joan Mir, the undisputed star of the previous round in that of Misano, where he got a podium with an extraordinary run from 15th on the grid. The Palma de Mallorca rookie comes to his favourite track at the perfect time. He has already achieved significant success there in the CEV, doing the double in 2015.
The Spaniard can count on the support of the public at home, setting his gaze on achieving second in the championship: just 17 points behind rival Enea Bastianini.
Like his teammate, Andrea Locatelli is looking to continue his form from the previous round: in San Marino the Italian had an intelligent race and finished in sixth place overall. Currently in 11th position in the world rankings,’ Loka’ is determined to enter the Top Ten and to give 100% in what will be his last Moto3 season.
The Gran Premio Movistar de Aragon also represents an opportunity for Fabio Quartararo to leave behind the difficulties of the season so far and return to the upper echelons of the grid.
