cev / Pagliani and the Leopard Junior Team on the podium again
The Leopard Junior Team duo made great performances today at the Circuit de Valencia ‘Ricardo Tormo’: Manuel Pagliani scored a brilliant 2nd place while Nicola Carraro completed two great comebacks that led him to the Top 20.
The wind was the main protagonist on the Valencian layout this Sunday morning; that strong conditions made the work of riders and teams very difficult.
In Race1, unfortunately Manuel Pagliani was not been able to make a good start and this has relegated him to a crowded group but, after 18 laps of hard battle, he closed in 13th place. His teammate Nicola Carraro, debuting this weekend in the Junior World Championship, get an impressive comeback; starting 31st on the grid, he crossed the finish line in a deserved 20th overall.
Race2 was stopped by the red flag in the first lap, as the re-start was run on twelve laps remaining only. From the 4th place on the grid, Manuel Pagliani started with big determination, involved in the leading group during all the race. The young Italian talent closed in 2 position, jumping on a podium again and securing other important point for the standing; his compatriot Carraro was 25th after another great fight on the track.
The next round of the 2018 FIM CEV Repsol will take place at the legendary Le Mans Circuit (May 19-20), coinciding with the MotoGP event. The Leopard Junior Team and their riders will work hard to fight for the victory!
#96 Manuel Pagliani: P13º – P2º
“I’m not too happy with the weekend, we worked a lot in the practice sessions and we were very quick, but today the conditions were different: in both two races it was very windy. That made things very difficult for me in Race1, but in Race2 I started as strong as I could and I stayed with the leading group, fighting till the end. It’s a positive result that allows us to come closer to the leadership, I want to thank the team for the great work they have done throughout the weekend, and I’m looking forward to Le Mans event.”
#10 Nicola Carraro: P20º – P25º
“The first race of the day was quite good and I had a lot of fun despite the strong wind. We were able to ride with a very strong group, but because of the wind we had to be more careful and we did not ride as fast as I expected. The second race was more complicated than the first, but in spite of that I had fun and finished the weekend with more experience than before. I want to thank the team for all the work of the weekend and the opportunity they gave to me.”
Ricard Jové (Team Manager)
“It was a complicated weekend, more specifically today it was a very difficult Sunday. After four days with very good weather and good conditions, today a tremendous wind conditioned everything. Manuel had a bad first race, affected by the wind and closed in 13th place. But he was able to motivate himself for a great second race and get the podium. We are satisfied with the 20th place Carraro achieved, considering his debut here. We saved the second position in the Championship standing, we’re going to Le Mans and fight for the title.”
