moto2 / Positive Saturday for Kent and Oliveira in Valencia
The Englishman of Leopard Racing team ripped around the 4 km of the Ricardo Tormo circuit and closed Saturday with the eighth overall; his teammate Miguel Oliveira showed encouraging signs of recovery and qualified on the fifth row.
A constructive and encouraging Saturday for the Leopard Racing team was staged today at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Cheste, the theater of the last round of the season. On the 4 Km Valencian track, the two standard bearers, led by Stefan Kiefer expressed, themselves to the maximum – set to capitalize on the excellent results in Sunday’s race.
The day started on the right foot right from FP3 in the morning, when Danny Kent closed the session with the third fastest time. In the afternoon the Chippenham rider improved by three tenths, succeeding in the final minutes of qualifying to set a wonderful time for tomorrow that will allow him to take eighth on the grid and devote himself to a race on the attack.

The Portuguese rider, returning after an absence of four races through injury and set to make his last appearance in the colors of Leopard Racing team, has gradually lowered his time in FP3 and QP the gap to the leaders was just 0.771s, closing the fifth row. The goal for the talent of Pragal is get up into the points to climb in the standings ahead of Marini and graduate as the Rookie of the Year.
Tomorrow at 09:10 Local Time (GMT +2), the riders will be back on track for 20 minutes of warm-up before the lights go out at 12:20 for the eighteenth and last race of the 2016 Moto2 World Championship.

“I’m happy with this Qualifying. I’m really happy with the whole weekend in general. This has been our best weekend since the start of the year. Already from FP1 I felt much better on the bike. We’ve made a few changes inside the team and I had some different people working for me and you can already see the difference in the results. FP3 we were inside the top three and qualified inside the top ten. I’ve matched my best Qualifying and the bike feels good. I just want to say thanks to the team for making these changes with.”
#44 Miguel OLIVEIRA – 15th (1’35.650):
“It has been a good day: as I said yesterday, I expected to be more comfortable with the bike. I made some good laps and I kept a good pace. We’re used to starting from this position. First of all for me the important thing is to race in the best possible way: of course it would be a nice thing to finish the season as the best rookie of the category.”
