moto3 / The Leopard Racing Team arrives in the USA

After his extraordinary comeback in the second race of the season in Argentina, Championship leader Joan Mir and his teammate Livio Loi are preparing to face the Grand Prix of the Americas, both out for great results.

The third round of the 2017 World Championship sees the paddock remain on the American continent, moving from Argentina to Texas and onwards to CoTA. A charming track of 5.5 km long with 11 left-handers and nine rights.

The Leopard Racing Team is preparing to meet the challenge with high morale and the confidence to make a great result yet again. Joan Mir heads to round three as the Moto3 class leader after winning the first two races of 2017, in both Qatar and Argentina. Since Alex Rins in 2014, no other Spanish rider has been able to take back-to-back wins in the lightweight class.

The Palma de Mallorca talent must watch his back for the likes of John McPhee and Jorge Martin, with him on the podium in both races. One has to go back to the 1972 season to find a similar event where the podium was the same in the first two races. The Spaniard will also pay attention to Italian rivals, especially Romano Fenati who was second in 2014 and winner in Austin last year.

Livio Loi has a special feeling with the USA, having taken to the podium in 2015 (but on different track, then Indianapolis) and climbing to the top step. The Belgian arrives in Austin motivated and determined after his sixth place comeback at the Rio Hondo circuit. Loi takes comfort in Leopard’s past results. Danny Kent claiming pole position, victory and fastest lap for the squad in 2015. Can the new you Leopard Racing pair match the past results at CoTA?
