moto3 / To Valencia for the Grand Final 2017

In his last race with the Leopard Racing team after the conquest of the 2017 World Champion title, Mallorca’s talent – Joan Mir – will try to attack Valentino Rossi’s record in Valencia. Livio Loi is determined to do his best and surpass Bulega, who is only 1 point ahead.

After the Asian triple trip of October in which Joan Mir became the World Champion of Moto3, the circus will return to Europe for the final round of the 2017 season. As usual, the calendar will close at the familiar circuit Ricardo Tormo of Cheste, which will be the theater of the Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana. The track, 4 km long run in a counter clockwise direction, features 9 lefts and 5 rights, and track was inaugurated in 1999 hosting the world’s first time in the same year. Since 2002 it has become the venue for the closing event of the season.

The Valencia round will also be the last appearance of Joan Mir with the colors of the Leopard Racing team: Mallorca’s talent leaves off after his time in the CEV and two prestigious seasons in the World Championship in which he graduated from Rookie of The Year (2016) to World Champion (2017). The Spaniard (who will pass to Moto2 in 2018) knows the Ricardo Tormo track well and, although with the world title already in his pocket and 10 wins this season (a Moto3 record), will try the assault on another record: those 11 wins by Valentino Rossi’s in the 125cc class in 1997, Joan Mir’s birth year.

But Christian Lundberg & Co.’s attention will also be on his team-mate Livio Loi, also in his last race for Leopard Racing. After his forced absence for injury, the Belgian travels on a positive trend after the podium of Phillip Island and the Top 5 in Sepang, results that projected him to 12th overall: 1 point is all that divides the Belgian from his rival Nicolò Bulega in the standings. The 20-year-old from Hasselt is motivated to do well and focused on taking that last step.
