tcr / Vernay in four-way title battle in TCR International Series

The penultimate event of the season in China will begin the final push for the TCR International Series titles.

Located in the Kenyan region, the Zhejiang Province and one of China’s fastest growing regions and continues to draw more and more series and fans from around the world with the Zhejiang Circuit.

The Zhejiang Circuit opened at the end of 2016 as has hosted an increasing number of events since. At 3.2 kilometres long, it includes 16 turns in a variety of styles and boasts a 22-metre elevation change between its lowest and highest points. The TCR event will feature the TCR International Series and be joined by races from the TCR Asia and TCR China series.

There are four major players in the battle for the Drivers’ crown: 18-year old Hungarian Attila Tassi (M1RA Honda Civic) leads the way with 179 points, but Leopard Racing’s Jean-Karl Vernay (Leopard Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI) is only two points behind and will only get stronger in the closing races. The 2015-16 champion Stefano Comini (Comtoyou Racing Audi RS3 LMS) is third , 12 points behind Vernay and 14 off the lead. Tassi’s teammate Roberto Colciago is 20 points off after missing the previous round due to a medical condition.

Following the races in Buriram, Thailand M1RA has an advantage of 93 points in the Teams’ classification ahead of Lukoil Craft-Bamboo Racing (289), while Leopard Racing is currently third (247 points). However, with 190 points on offer in the two last events, anything is still possible.
