tcr / Vernay returns to TCR Europe Series on his favorite track

For its third event of the 2018 season, the TCR Europe Series resumes at Spa-Francorchamps, as Leopard Lukoil Team’s ‘home circuit’.

Inaugurated in 1922 as an open-road course in the Ardennes region, this track underwent many changes during the years; the current layout dates back to 2007. It has been home to 51 editions out of 63 of the F1 Belgian GP, from 1950 to 2017.

The event sees the reappearance of Jean-Karl Vernay in the Leopard Lukoil Team Audi RS3 LMS and Stefano Comini who is now racing a new Honda Civic FK7 by Autodis Racing THX.

‘Jay Kay’, who was replaced by Jaap van Lagen in the Netherlands, aims for his first victory in the series on a track that is home for his team and one that he loves: here he already won twice, in the 2016 & 2017 TCR International Series.

They will compete against the two best drivers so far: Dušan Borković & Mikel Azcona. The Serbian dominated the opening event at Le Castellet, while the young Spaniard claimed his first victory in Zandvoort’s Race 1; they both lead the standings with 66 points.
